Edgelands
Edgelands is a photographic exploration of the Swale marshes, working across mainland and island through cameraless processes and prolonged observation.
The work is made in response to the shifting salt marsh landscapes of Sheppey and Oare, places shaped by tide, weather, and time. These are in-between territories where land and water continually renegotiate their boundaries.
Working both on site and in the studio with gathered materials, the photographs are formed through collaboration with environment. Each image is unique, shaped as much by chance and natural processes as by intention.
Through this process, control gives way to duration and attention. The resulting images sit within a threshold space, reflecting the instability and quiet transformation of the marshes themselves.
